Our littles definitely have their little quirks, and it's what makes this whole parenting thing so special. I get to see and know all of those funny things about my kids that not everyone would get to experience.
The raised eyebrow that Caleb will sometimes throw when he's staring at one of us in amusement. The snorts that Grace throws out when she's really excited or really happy about something. The way they'll both reach for each other sometimes to wrap their arms around the other one's neck...just for a bit...just enough time to steal my breath.
It's those little things that make mommyhood so special.
Today I got to see a new little thing that Grace is working on. She figured out how to walk backwards, and this was a pretty stellar skill in her eyes, because one of my favorite things about my little girl is that when she's doing something she's proud of, or something she knows she probably shouldn't be proud of, she'll seek out one of us, stare directly at us, and throw out this adorable grin like "Are you seeing this? Are you SEEING this? Yeah, this is happening right now. What do you think? AMAZED???"
It was so cute to watch her slowly walking backwards, not at all concerned about what might be behind her, eyes locked on mine, glowing in her new awesomeness. She goes really slow because she doesn't want to look away from us...but she also must realize that she could run into something (or someone) any moment. It's hysterical and brilliant all at once. Love.
