Day 9's trip to the pediatrician...solo!

Oh the solo trip to the pediatrician.  I've only done it once before and it resulted in 18 panicked phone calls to Ben followed by one super panicky text and a husband speeding out of work to meet me at the pediatrician's so I could take Caleb to the hospital and Grace could go home with daddy. Not cool.

This one went much more smoothly.  Buddy has a staff infection in his eye (?!?! oy ?!?!) and I got to get Gracie weighed which makes me happy and a lot less paranoid.  He was weighed with his clothes on at a holyfatbaby 14lbs 9oz.  Grace sans cute "Grandma makes me smile" outfit weighed 10lbs 6oz.  She's gained just shy of a pound in 16 days.  He's gained over two pounds.  Wowza.

We got new antibiotic eye drops that are supposedly better for staff- so no relief of the prying-sad-baby-eye-open drama. He's still taking it like a champ most of the time though.

The new night schedule seemed to have worked pretty well last night.  We got to bed around 10:30pm after the babies had had enough of their nighttime anger and were cool with being put down sans binkies in their cribs.  Then I woke up at 12:45am to some grumbling, but it didn't seem desperate so I waited it out and they fell back asleep til little man woke up at 2am.  I fed him and waited to see what his sister would do- still totally passed out at 2:30, but had to wake her up to stay on schedule.  Wonder what she would have done?

Well- she ended up waking up at 5:00ish with some whimpering.  Ben woke up to it with his super-dad-radar and waited to see what would happen. He ended up making his breakfast, feeding her at 5:30 and him at 5:45, then getting ready for work and out the doory by around 6:40. This meant he was home by 4ish today which was AWESOME!

After he left, the littles slept a bit more until Grace, per usual, woke up groaning like crazy and apparently having the hardest time with her "battle against the poo".  I, of course, brought her in bed with me.  She was acting hungry but she had just ate not too long ago so we hung out and then she fell asleep until her brother woke up at 9:00.

All in all, pretty successful.

So now they're actually sleeping in the living room- with the help of trusted-binky-friends.  We'll feed them again in a few minutes and hopefully it'll be a similarly peaceful night! Here's where Caleb is right this instant- so funny!

Ben changed him after the last feeding and he was super cranky...except for when he was lying on the changing mat in the living room.  So we laid him back down there (after I had changed Grace out of her super cute outfit and left it on the changing mat, woops) and he played alone for a good 20 minutes.  Then, after protesting for his binky, fell right to sleep...spread eagle. Ha!

Grace on the other hand needed to be swaddled to get tired. It worked for a bit...and then:

Hi mom. Get me outta this thing. Now.

Love it. Oh, babies are waking- time to go! :)
